The International Ranger Federation (IRF) was founded in 1992 with a signed agreement between the Countryside Management Association (CMA), representing rangers in England and Wales; the Scottish Countryside Rangers Association (SCRA); and the U.S. Association of National Park Rangers (ANPR).
The goals of this agreement are to provide a forum for rangers from around the world to share their successes and failures in protecting the world's heritage and to promote information and technology transfer from countries in which protected area management enjoys broad public and government support to countries in which protected area management is less well supported.

North American Update - The International Ranger Federation
Hello North American rangers,
The managing board of the International Ranger Federation, officially known as the International Executive Council or IEC, is developing an ambitious work plan to strengthen IRF and involve more country associations and their members in the work of the federation. As one way to involve more people the regional representatives are establishing small teams for specific work.
The IRF has limited funding sources, so the work we contribute is voluntary with expenses usually covered by ourselves, not the Federation or even our country association. That is a lot to ask, we know. We continue to work on strengthening IRF’s financial base but it is a slow and difficult road.
As the North America representative, I am looking for NPWA/AGPA (Canada - National Park Wardens Association), ANPR (USA- Association of National Park Rangers), and CSPRA (USA - California State Park Rangers Association) members who could contribute to the following areas. If you want to be part of the North American IRF team, please let me know what issues are of interest to you.
All members are asked to keep IRF informed of upcoming conferences where we should aim to get ranger representation, of ranger issues in your area, of member association work that would be of interest to the global world of rangers. Your regional representative is one good conduit of information. You are welcome to send material to any on the IEC, of course.
Thanks!
Deanne Adams, North American Representative
